3 Thoughts That Made Me Stop Sabotaging My Money Flow (My Income’s Finally Moving)
3 Thoughts That Made Me Stop Sabotaging My Money Flow (My Income’s Finally Moving)
I haven’t hit millionaire status yet, but I’ve finally broken the cycle of “get money, lose money, spiral, repeat.”
And it wasn’t because I downloaded a money app, made a spreadsheet, or read some cute quote on Pinterest.
It was because I changed how I think at the root level.
Because you can’t out-earn your beliefs.
You can’t out-hustle your subconscious.
So here are 3 mindset shifts that pulled me out of sabotage mode and into steady income. Here's how they might do the same for you:
💭 Thought 1: “I can’t receive what I don’t feel safe holding.”
This one hit me like a gut punch.
I kept asking for more. More clients. More sales. More opportunities. But anytime something good came in, I’d panic. Delay. Overthink. Shut it down. That’s a nervous system response and shutdown.
I realized my body didn’t trust money. It didn’t feel safe with money.
Because having more meant responsibility, pressure, and more being judged.
So unconsciously, I’d sabotage to get back to what was familiar. Which for me… struggle and stress is the normal. Once I acknowledged that, I started pairing money mindset work with nervous system regulation.
- Breathwork
- EFT
- Journaling
- Affirmations
These soothed my body, allowing me to actually create a new normal.
Affirmation To Try:
Place your hand on your chest and say:
"It's safe for me to hold more. It's safe to feel supported. It's safe to receive."
💭 Thought 2: “I’m not bad with money. I was just never taught safety around it.”
Let’s be real. Nobody sat most of us down and said,
"Hey, here’s how to emotionally manage abundance."
We just inherited stress, fear, guilt, and silence.
So I used to say “I’m terrible with money” like it was a personality trait.
That was me repeating my shame out loud.
Now I say:
"I’m learning how to feel safe with money. I’m growing into someone who can handle more."
Words Matter! So much more than what we are taught to believe.
What else matters? Identity matters.
Your subconscious listens to everything you say to be true about yourself.
Try this:
Write down the money belief you’ve been repeating and rewrite it. (Even if you don’t believe the new version yet. Your repetition will turn it into evidence.)
Examples:
- Money doesn't grow on trees
- Money doesn't buy happiness
- We don't have it to spare
💭 Thought 3: “My money story was inherited, but it’s mine to rewrite.”
This was the moment I reclaimed my power.
I grew up watching money come with problems.
So I learned to fear having it. To associate love with lack.
I thought having more money could potentially cause you to do stupid things.
Examples:
- Money to spend on drugs
- Money to gamble away
- Money to fight over
- Money to spend frivolously
But I finally asked myself:
"Whose story is this? And do I still want to carry it?”
Nope. I’m done carrying the weight of old programming.
Now I write my own story. One where money is neutral. Safe. Supportive. A tool.
And my income is finally reflecting that shift.

Start the Deep WorkFinal Words
You don’t have to be perfect with money to grow.
You just have to stop lying to yourself about what’s in the way.
Money flow starts in the mind. Then it moves through the body. Then it shows up in your life.
You’ve already done the hard part. Noticing something isn’t working.
Now you get to do the freeing part. Choosing something new.
